Having partnered with @orbitarchitects on a number of projects over the years, it was a privilege to be trusted with delivering their new studio in central London.

The studio renovation included new meeting rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms, alongside a striking reception that celebrates the building’s original character -something we were proud to help bring back to life.

We are thrilled to share that the new boys have been thoroughly enjoying their first term at St. Philip's! They’ve been settling in wonderfully and love their bright and welcoming new classroom.

In bringing this new space to life, we overcame the structural complexities of integrating modern classrooms into a historic building through thoughtful planning, collaboration with the wonderful school and architect Anthony Kyrke-Smith, and a commitment to preserving the school's character while ensuring contemporary functionality.

One key challenge was bringing light into the basement classrooms, which we addressed through structural rearrangements. We created a bright and welcoming environment where children can thrive and learn while preserving the building's historic character.

This summer, we were thrilled to welcome the youngest Deacy, James, into the family business! Donning his hi-vis for the first time, James jumped right into a special project at St Philip’s School—where he proudly served as Head Boy in 2020.

What made this project even more meaningful? James was managed by his cousin Clement, another St Philip’s Old Boy. Together, they worked on a structural basement refurbishment to create new year 1 and 2 facilities for this successful and expanding school.

We’re thrilled to present our latest project at Queen’s College Prep School, continuing our longstanding relationship with Queen’s College London. The school resides within a Grade 2 listed building on Portland Place, dating back to 1776.

Together with our expert joiners Miller Contracts, we undertook the replacement of an original 18th Century sash, single-glazed curved window. The restoration was a fascinating journey that breathed new life into historical architecture.

In order to maintain the windows authenticity, we employed traditional methods meaning that everything was done by hand. To replicate the window, we took 1:1 copies of the individual mouldings and sections using a mimic profiler which were then converted into a digital format.

The sash windows were extremely complex, consisting of 96 panels of glass installed using a traditional putty glazing method and no mechanical fixings. The glazing bars were all bespoke and manufactured by hand using 216 mortice and tenons.

In just six weeks, our dedicated team transformed this iconic space resulting in a beautiful and inviting entrance that reflects the rich heritage of the RAF club while embracing modern but concealed technology.

We are immensely proud of the hard work and dedication that went into this project and are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of this historic establishment.

The new space stands as testament to our commitment to excellence in construction. We couldn't be happier with the outcome, and we thank our talented team and partners who made this a reality.
